A health care watchdog has recognized seven New Jersey hospitals with its prestigious Top Hospital Award for excellence in patient safety and quality of care.
The Leapfrog Group announced the 2025 honorees at its Annual Meeting and Awards Dinner on Monday. Across the United States, 156 hospitals earned the Top Hospital Award this year, including 15 children’s hospitals, 52 general hospitals, 16 rural hospitals, and 73 teaching hospitals. In New Jersey, four teaching hospitals and three general hospitals were honored.
To qualify, hospitals must perform at the very top of the Leapfrog Hospital Survey and earn an A grade in the most recent scoring round. Leapfrog notes that Top Hospitals typically have stronger systems to prevent medication errors, deliver higher-quality maternity care, and maintain lower infection rates.
The New Jersey facilities named Top Hospitals this year are:
- Bergen New Bridge Medical Center, Paramus — Teaching Top Hospital
- Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, Englewood — Teaching Top Hospital
- Hackensack Meridian Pascack Valley Medical Center, Westwood — General Top Hospital
- Holy Name Medical Center, Teaneck — General Top Hospital
- Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch — Teaching Top Hospital
- Shore Medical Center, Somers Point — General Top Hospital
- St. Luke’s Warren Campus, Phillipsburg — Teaching Top Hospital
