The Depot Grand Opening: Local Producers & Entrepreneurship in Western Nebraska! (2026)

The Depot Unveils a New Rural Business Model: Grand Opening on January 19th

The Depot is set to celebrate its grand opening on January 19th, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, offering the public a unique experience. This innovative business model aims to foster local producers, shared resources, and entrepreneurship at every stage, creating a vibrant community hub in Potter.

The Depot is more than just a general store and production hub; it's a space that brings together a bakery, a rentable commercial kitchen, and flexible spaces for entrepreneurs and businesses. The grand opening will showcase a variety of local produce and services, including a special Western Nebraska sandwich, a collaboration between Chef Tyler Miller of First Response Meat Co. and Bloom & Bake Market.

The sandwich, crafted with all-natural, ranch-to-table beef from Lukassen Cattle Company, will be a delicious demonstration of the ingredients and producers available through The Depot. This is just one example of how local food businesses can utilize the Depot's resources for production, collaboration, and growth.

Additionally, Jenny Murphy will be offering bagel and cheesecake samples, showcasing her culinary skills and the Depot's kitchen capabilities. This highlights how independent food creators can use the kitchen to test ideas, share their craft, and connect directly with the community.

The event will also feature locally sourced potatoes fried in Nebraska-made beef tallow, showcasing traditional cooking methods and locally produced cooking fats. 308 Salt, a Nebraska-based producer, will also be available, offering bottled mineral salt.

Beyond food, The Depot will offer a wide selection of goods year-round, including Primrose Oil products, Inukshuk dog food, Hestra gloves, and more, alongside locally produced items.

Looking ahead, The Depot plans to introduce a Youth Entrepreneur Corner, encouraging kids and young people to explore entrepreneurship in a real-world setting. This will provide no-cost opportunities throughout the year for youth entrepreneurs to showcase products, test ideas, and gain experience in a supportive environment.

The Depot also offers flexible satellite office and pop-up space for businesses seeking a presence in Potter on a limited or recurring basis. Applications are currently being accepted for new vendors and entrepreneurs, with ample space available for makers, producers, and small businesses interested in joining The Depot and growing alongside the project.

"This project is about creating access — to kitchens, to shelf space, to customers, and to opportunity," said owner Drew Enevoldsen. "We’re building something that can evolve, and we’re actively looking for others who want to be part of that journey."

The January 19th grand opening is a chance for the public to explore the space, meet the producers, and understand how The Depot is designed to support Western Nebraska now and into the future.
