3 Spider-Man Villains Too Dark for the MCU Explained (2026)

Spider-Man's rogues' gallery is legendary, but some villains are just too dark for the MCU. Over the years, Spider-Man has battled iconic foes like the Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus. However, some villains are so disturbing that they would be a shock to see in an MCU movie. Here are three Spider-Man villains who are too dark for the MCU.

3) Kindred: Kindred is a newer villain who emerged from Hell to seek revenge on Spider-Man and Norman Osborn. The mystery of Kindred's identity kept readers guessing for a long time. The twist was a letdown for some, but the storyline included Sin-Eater and a surprising face turn by Norman. The problem? Kindred's literal origin in Hell. This concept doesn't align with the MCU's style. Plus, the amount of backstory would be challenging to condense into a movie. Kindred would not fit in the MCU.

2) Freak: Freak is a horrifying villain, completely out of line for the MCU. A junkie breaks into Curt Conner's lab, seeking drugs. He injects animal stem cells, thinking they are meth. This alone is enough to disqualify him from the MCU.

But it gets worse. The cells destroy his body, turning him into a skinless monster. He dies and returns, stronger and even more mutated. His goal? To find more drugs. Freak is a monster for a body-horror film, not the MCU.

1) The Thousand: This obscure villain would never make it into the MCU. Carl King, a school bully, witnessed the radioactive spider bite Peter Parker. He eats the spider, hoping for power. Instead, his body breaks down, transforming him into a hive of a thousand spiders. He consumes victims from the inside, wearing their skin. He then stalks Peter for years, waiting to attack. There's no way a villain this disturbing could ever appear in an MCU movie.
